As you know I have often written about bringing attention to the celebrations in Greenville for July 4, Annie Oakley and Treaty of Greenville. Two of the three are figments of our imagination, they do not exist, never happen, not part of our history. Not so fast pale face; what is on the horizon?
Well several of us folks got together and we are attempting to put on a rodeo for the Annie Oakley days. We want to see chuck wagon races, wild horse races, wild cow milking contest, steer wrestling, head an heeling, cutting, bronco riding, bull riding, barrel racing and maybe a kiddy rodeo. We would like to add draft horse shows and exhibition by breed. Finally, BBQ competition, local teams and not so local.
Our goal is to bring professional rodeo to Greenville for the next 25 years or more. Make Annie Oakley a yearly stop by those that travel to BBQ competitions. Like Memphis in May we hope to add Greenville in July. Finally, have the best draft and horse shows.
Why Annie Oakley? Well how did Annie make her living? She traveled with a wild west show all over the globe. I think that if Annie were here today, this would be the type event that would tickle her. After all this how Annie supported her mother and siblings.
So now we will see if we can bring this together, not just the rodeo, for the children that need our support and for those in need. In time we maybe able to add more events. Let us make clear this will be a great undertaking, requiring lots of preparation. This is just the start-up so the need for helping hands and minds are in great demand. Lots of errors follow start-ups and we will have to be quick thinking on our feet.
I am asking for help and we are looking for sponsors to get us started. I have been working on the latter asking several corporations for assistance. I have been chasing the cost of this event and do not at present have all the data however, we are closing in on it.
Well folks there it is, open mouth insert foot, I will chew on this and be there in the end.

Take care and May God Bless.
