ST. HENRY — The Bradford Lady Railroaders travelled to St Henry to take on the Redskins from the Midwest Athletic Conference Wednesday in what turned into be a good defensive match up.
The Roaders got on the board early with leadoff batter Haley Patty doubling and scoring on a passed ball.
Then in the second inning after leading off with back-to-back singles from Olivia Hart and Mindy Brewer, a Kelly Moore sac bunt added another run. Then Kylie Miller’s ground ball scored what ended up to be all the Railroaders would score the rest of the game.
But it was enough as Bradford downed St Henry 3-0.
“We took advantage of opportunities to score early,” Bradford softball coach Shon Schaffer said. “We executed; that’s what it’s about.”
Patty was almost flawless on the mound, going all seven innings striking out 16 and only giving up a single in the second inning.
“Haley was in a zone, although she is her biggest critic,” Schaffer said. “She was upset of the two walks she had and some pitches she missed on.”
