ARCANUM — More than 80 girls attended Arcanum’s 12th annual Trojan Volleyball Camp this week at Arcanum High School.
The volleyball camp includes three sessions with high school girls, junior high girls and youth girls in the fourth through sixth grades. The high school and junior high camps began Monday and run through Friday while the youth camp began Tuesday and concluded Thursday afternoon.
The camp is run by the Arcanum high school and junior high volleyball coaches with high school players helping instruct the junior high and youth camps, too.
All camps are geared toward fun and love of the game, Arcanum varsity volleyball coach Terri Day said. It gives younger kids a chance to play and decide if they like the game, she said, while being with friends and sharing a common interest.
The main focus of the camps are fundamentals, Day said, along with games, competitions, mini tournaments and individual work.
It also gives the high school players an opportunity to work on their skills, bond and introduce the incoming freshmen to the higher level of play in high school and the need to step up their games to compete, she said.
