US36 crash claims life

COVINGTON — A two-vehicle, head-on crash on U.S. Route 36 between Covington and Bradford, claimed the life of a Covington woman, sent her husband to Miami Valley Hospital aboard CareFlight and a third victim to Upper Valley Medical Center.

Sgt. Chris Bobb of the Miami County Sheriff’s office said that a car driven by Dillon H. Blinn, 18, of Greenville was westbound on U.S. 36 between Greenville Falls-Clayton and Croft Mill roads, around 1 p.m when it drifted left of center into oncoming traffic and struck an eastbound vehicle, operated by Maurice L. Adams, 88, of Covington, head-on.

Pronounced dead at the scene, was Adams’ wife, Esther M. Adams, 86, also of Covington. Maurice Adams was flown aboard CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. His condition is not yet known.

Blinn was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A crash reconstruction team from the Miami County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. .

Bobb said that the case will be sent before a Grand Jury who will determine any charges in the crash.
