Open house set for Oens’ 50th

VERSAILLES - Leo and Lucy (Monnin) Oen of Versailles celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass on May 4 at St. Remy Church where they were married 50 years ago on May 2, 1964.


They will have an open house at their cabin at 3600 Simon Road (Lucy’s Lane) on July 20 from 1 to 4 p.m.


They have two sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Angie Oen of Russia, Ohio, and David and Laure Oen of Maineville, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Bruce Browne of Lebanon, Ohio, and Jennifer and Jeff Bonkoski of Fulton, Ill.; and six grandchildren, Justin and Katlend Oen, Corryn and Kayleigh Browne and Isabelle and Jaclyn Oen.


Leo worked at Copeland in Sidney, retiring in 2006. Lucy worked at Wayne Hospital in Greenville and retired in 2005. He farmed, worked in construction and did woodworking, and she enjoyed crocheting, piano and reading. They both enjoy camping, traveling and especially spending more time with family.


Leo was the son of Leo Sr. (deceased) and Ruth Oen and was the oldest of four. He has a brother Joe and two sisters Sharon and Rita. Lucy was the daughter of Leo and Marie Monnin (deceased), the tenth of 14 children, Jim, Ursula, Rose, Guy, Mark Ray, Leon Dorothy and Clem. Bernard, Jr., Sr. Teresa Joe and Bede are deceased.
