NEW MADISON - It was a “fantastic” night for a pageant Thursday as New Madison held their annual 4th of July festival, starting off with cornhole tournaments, good food and the Little Miss and Mister Firecracker pageant.
Eleven girls and three boys, ages 3-5, competed for the title of Little Miss and Mister Firecracker, but ultimately Leah Lawrence, daughter of Scott and Lindsay Lawrence, would walk away with the crown, along with Jasen Godown, son of Rob and Lori Godown.
Coming in as first runner up were Aubrey Eley, daughter of Eric and Sarah Eley, and Grady Thomas, son of Adriane and Brian Thomas. Second runners up were Emylee Springer, daughter of Sarah Ditty and Rodney Springer, and Quinten Smith, son of Josh and Justena Smith.
Kaley Brandon, Addie Pipenger, Audrey Thomas, Kayla Washington, Raegan Hunt, Annabeck Spencer, Elizabeth Jesse and Glori Mae Rausch also donned their red, white and blue and competed well, said representatives.
Little Miss and Mister Firecracker, as well as the first and second runners up, were featured in the 4th of July parade Friday.
Friday evening thousands gathered to enjoy the fireworks display, which cost nearly $11,000, representatives stated.
