WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — On Friday, Oct. 21, pumpkins will fly for charity at the annual Wright-Patt Pumpkin Chuck, sponsored by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.

The Pumpkin Chuck supports the annual Combined Federal Campaign, which provides an opportunity for DOD military and civilian federal employees to contribute to local, national, and international non-profit organizations. A portion of all Pumpkin Chuck proceeds will be donated to the CFC fundraising drive.

The event will be held on the flight line behind the National Museum of the United States Air Force, with access through Spinning Road gate. The event is open to the public.

Media will have the opportunity to interview and film teams competing to see who can launch a pumpkin the furthest distance, using a variety of machines.

Three local teams will participate at this year’s base event and are planning to compete later this year at the 2016 World Championship Punkin Chunkin Association world championship in Delaware.

Along with the Pumpkin Chuck competition, additional activities will include a pumpkin pie bake off and a pie eating contest
