DARKE COUNTY – Each year the Cancer Association of Darke County holds a survivor’s walk in conjunction with the National Cancer Survivor’s Day. This year the event was held at the scenic Chenoweth Trails located on Greenville-Nashville Road on June 7.

“The weather was beautiful, as the surroundings were, and refreshments were provided and door prizes given as well,” said organizers.

The event provided an opportunity to gather and celebrate cancer survivors as well as remember those who lost their battle to this very serious illness.

Live music was provided by Country Harmony and 24/7. Youth for Christ donated their time in helping prepare the food.

“The association wants to thank all that attended and supported the event in any way. The Light Foundation generously donated their facility for this event. For any who have not visited Chenoweth Trails, check them out on the web: http://mattlight72.com/chenoweth-trails.”

“The cancer association appreciates all donations and is overseen by a volunteer board that determines how donations are to be used, etc.”

The expenses are kept to a minimum so the bulk of the monies go to the cancer patients living in Darke County. The only requirement to receive benefits is to reside in Darke County and have a confirmed diagnosis of cancer.

The association partners with United Way and is not affiliated with the American Cancer Society or other cancer groups.

Also a special thanks to the corporate sponsors for 2015 for the association: Johnston Chiropractic Clinic, North Star Hardware Implement, Williamson Insurance, Greenville Memorial Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, FOE Ladies Auxiliary, Farmers State Bank ~ New Madison, Women of the Moose 102, Leis Realty, Family Health, Brothers Publishing (Early Bird), Osgood State Bank, Ansonia Lumber Company, Brethren Retirement Community, William Hole, Jr., Judge Julie Monnin, Darke County Municipal Court Second National Bank, American Legion Post 140, Greenville Technology, Inc., Diane Evans, State Farm Agency and VFW Post 7262.
