Green Wave falls to Wapak

GREENVILLE — The Greenville boys soccer team lost to Wapakoneta 3-0 at Harmon Field.

The Green Wave were out shot Tuesday night by 31-7, even though they moved the ball around the field better than they have been. But they gave up two early goals that really hurt the gameplan that they went in with.

The core of the team was led by Doug Wise, Austin Anthony and Matt Westfall as well as goalie Sam Bowers, who had a total of 17 saves.

Coach Brent DeVoss said the team played well but started out slow with two early goals that were given up. The team wasn’t playing with the speed and pace that it should of been playing with in the beginning but picked it up later on in the game. By that time it was just too late.

Changes were made in the second half by bringing Westfall up to the line were most of the shots were taken. But the team couldn’t find the goal or the kicks were lacking the power to make the goals.

Greenville’s reserve team also lost to Wapakoneta 4-1. Aaron Wise made the lone goal for the reserve team.

The next game will be home at 2:30 p.m.Saturday at Harmon field against Troy.
