Yes, it has been a long time in coming. Those of us who remember when Russ Road was opened through to State Route 121 allowing access out to 127 bypass were so pleased.

Now we have a decision to make in reference to a request for a change in zoning of the Northwest corner of 121 and Russ Road. It has taken two plus decades for a development plan to come before Planning, Zoning and now the Greenville City Council. Let us realize that the old planned use was not meant to be and allow the request be approved by the change of zoning.

We are fortunate to have the new owners of the once Gades’ Nursing Home wanting to build a new more modern facility on the 121 and Russ Road location. The facility is estimated to be an $8,000,000 construction project. Just think of how many dollars that will pump into our local economy. Plus, the site location will have a pleasing appearance as visitors enter Greenville.
