VERSAILLES – The Versailles volleyball team defeated Delphos St. John’s in a hard fought Midwest Athletic Conference match up 3-0 Thursday.

The Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first set and cruised to a 25-11 win.

The Blue Jays came back strong in the second game, leading 10-7 before the Tigers pulled even at 16.

“They fought hard, and they reminded us that you have to fight hard for every point,” Versailles coach Karla Otte said. “They caught us on out heels.”

Versailles was able to take a lead and pull out a hard fought 25-21 victory and a 2-0 lead. In the third set the Tigers pulled away early and took the last game 25-11.

The Tigers were a little inconsistent in the net but controlled the flow of the game.

“We had moments we were on top of the net,” Otte said. “Overall our ball control could have improved.”

The Tigers improved to 16-3 on the season and 5-2 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. They will finish out their regular season with conference games against Marion Local and New Bremen.
