GREENVILLE – After falling just one match short of advancing to districts last year, Greenville’s Sophia Navas-Davis and Michelle Borgerding both are thrilled to make it to this year’s district tournament.

Navas-Davis and Borgerding, Greenville’s top two singles players, both will compete in the Division II girls tennis district tournament at Centerville today. It’s the first time either girl, both of whom are juniors, have advanced to the district tournament.

“I think that’s great,” Borgerding said. “I think that shows our tennis program must be doing something right.”

Navas-Davis reached the quarterfinals of the Ohio High School Athletic Association sectional tournament in each of the past two years. Both times she lost to a senior to fall one win short of advancing to districts.
