The Cross County Conference meet took place on Saturday morning in New Madison at Tri-Village’s new course.
NEW MADISON – The Cross County Conference held its annual meet on Saturday in New Madison, where 13 local teams competed for the top spot on Tri-Village’s new course.
TV’s Clayton Murphy came out on top yet again for the varsity boys, beating out second place by a full minute and a half. Arcanum’s Adam Klipstine placed second with a time of 17:33, and Ansonia’s Justin Hoying followed with 17:57.
“Clayton wanted to come out and put a stamp on this course and let people know where he’s at,” Tri-Village cross country coach Scott Warren said.
Covington took first place overall for the varsity boys teams, followed by TV at third, FM at fifth, Ansonia at seventh, Arcanum at eighth and Bradford at ninth.
Ansonia’s Samantha Shook placed highest among Darke County’s varsity girls, getting third place with a time of 21:19. FM’s Lauren Landes took 12th place with a time of 21:19. Miami East’s Meredith Wesco earned first.
“Samantha Shook, she hasn’t been where we wanted her to be all year, but she really stepped it up and came through when she needed to in a big meet. She had an outstanding race,” Ansonia cross country coach Todd Miller said.
Miami East earned first place for the varsity girls team score, followed by Ansonia at fourth, Bradford at fifth, FM as sixth and Arcanum at eighth.
“I was very pleased with how our teams did overall today. We had several runners who ran individual best personal times,” coach Miller said.
Tri-Village earned first place for its JV boys team, beating out Bradford at fifth and Arcanum at seventh.
“We had a good season. Our team has really stepped up,” coach Warren said.
Tri-Village’s Gavin Richards placed first for JV boys, followed by Keenan Fraylick at fifth. FM’s Jeremy Bridenbaugh earned 11th, and Bradford’s Jarrad Crist earned 15th place.
Arcanum’s Marcie Bradshaw placed highest for Darke County among the JV girls with a time of 14:14, earning 11th place. Ansonia’s Stefani Garrett earned 18th place, and FM’s Caylee Baker earned 26th. Miami East’s Marie Ewing won the race with a time of 13:01.
Covington again placed highest for the JV girls team score, followed by Ansonia at fifth, Arcanum at sixth and FM finishing at seventh.
