BASF named 1 of 8 safest

GREENVILLE - The Greenville BASF plant is celebrating one year with no injuries, and site workers have accumulated, over seven years, 306,000 hours without injury, stated Stacey Russel, BASF Corp. marketing communications manager.

The Greenville BASF also received the 2011 Group Award for having the lowest injury rate in their insured group, stated Russell. The Greenville plant also received the 100 percent award for having no injuries or illnesses resulting in a day or more away from work in the previous year, as well as the Achievement Award for a 25 percent reduction in their incident rate from the previous year, commented Russell.

BASF Corp. was named one of eight of America’s Safest Companies for 2012 by EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) Today.

“The companies, despite diverse business models and industries, have integrated safety into the way they do business, treating EHS as a building block necessary for business success,” stated EHS Today in the article that announced the eight companies.

According to EHS Today, all eight companies demonstrate “support from management and employee involvement; provide innovative solutions to safety challenges; report injury and illness rates significantly lower than the average for their industries; support comprehensive training programs; believe that prevention of incidents is the cornerstone of the safety process; have integrated safety into their corporate culture and communicate the value of safety to employees and customers; and substantiate the benefits of the safety process.”
