Two Arcanum tax levies are on the ballot for consideration in the November election. Issue 3 is a Fire RENEWAL levy; this is two mills and is valued at 20 cents per one hundred dollars for a period of five years. Issue 4 is a new levy for parks and recreation; this will benefit our city parks and the city pool. The rate is one mill which amounts to 10 cents per hundred dollars for a period of five years as well.

This Saturday, October 20th is Sweetest Day. This occasion offers all of us an opportunity to remember not only our “sweetie” but also the sick, aged and orphaned, friends, relatives and associates whose helpfulness and kindness we have enjoyed. Sometimes criticized as a “Hallmark holiday”, Sweetest Day was first organized by candy manufacturers to promote the health benefits of eating candy and chocolate everyday! And why not? Today, Sweetest Day is a great way to brighten any a gloomy October day.
