When I hear and read people saying we must go by the Constitution, I felt like I needed to read the Constitution and try to see what the problems are in today’s United States. While reading I had a part of the Preamble that kept bothering me- “Promote the General Welfare” - was what I couldn’t get past or had to keep coming back to.
I wasn’t sure exactly what it meant so I went to the Webster Dictionary and looked up 3 words: Promote: present and secure financial backing for; General: Pertaining to the whole; Welfare: the state of being healthy.
After seeing the meaning of the words it appears to me the founding fathers wanted every citizen to have health care, (not controlled by insurance companies, because I doubt if they existed when the constitution was signed). So the only conclusion I could come up with is that Obamacare is just one step closer to what the founding fathers felt all Americans deserved, a single payer system of what some call National Health Care.
Another part that was interesting was the 1st amendment. It refers to freedom of speech which is great but nowhere does it say the freedom to lie and this is the biggest problem in government today. Our political parties and politicians mislead and lie about anything that will or should benefit the low income and middle class.
This should and needs to be stopped. It’s mostly caused by middle class and low income believing what people like Carl Rove and his greedy buddies say in their super-pac ads.
Why anyone in the middle class or low income would vote for a candidate that people like Carl Rove (Bush’s right hand man) supports is mind boggling. This is just one guy that was a big part in the great recession and now they are using the money they stole from 401ks, retirement plans, homes and businesses to lie about the intent of certain politicians hoping they can finish the job they started, a two class country, the rich and the poor.
We need to support the candidates that have tried to help the low income and middle class by their actions, not their lies. If you look at the last four years you can see who was trying to help and who was misleading for greed.
I believe I’ll vote Democrat and for a president that has tried to prove he cares about the United States of America and its constitution, because I believe the majority of the founding fathers believed in the Ten Commandments and “Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor.”
