GREENVILLE - Greenville Police Department executed a search warrant late Friday afternoon at Michael’s Fine Jewelry & Clocks, located at 601 South Broadway in Greenville.
According to a release from the Greenville Police Department, the search was conducted to look for items taken during a burglary early Friday morning and from Wal-Mart thefts/gift card scam.
Items and other evidence were removed from the business as a result of the search warrant. No arrests were made and an investigation continues by the Greenville Police Department.
Greenville attorney David A. Rohrer, who represents Michael’s issued the following statement regarding the incident:
“My client has been a respected businessman for over 26 years. He has always and will continue to cooperate with the police department in any investigations. However, I am disappointed in how the search warrant was handled on his business. It was uncalled for the way the officers and detectives stormed in like it was a criminal establishment or some type of drug bust, especially during rush hour and right before the “Chocolate Walk” on Broadway. This kind of action can seriously hurt a business. My client has asked law enforcement for a list of known criminals and thieves previously, but they have never supplied him with one. My client will absolutely shore up any weaknesses in his business, if there are any, but needs police to supply a list of names of who not to buy from.”
The Greenville Police Department did not wish to respond to Rohrer’s statement.
