Eaton woman dies in crash

PREBLE COUNTY - The Preble County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 1:38 a.m. Monday morning on the 2600 block of Lexington Road.

Preliminary investigation shows that a 1996 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck was traveling east on Lexington Road. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking a mailbox, telephone pedestal and a tree.

Investigators are not sure at this point why the vehicle left the roadway. The driver, Christine M. Wilkinson, 36, of Eaton, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. Wilkinson had to be extricated from the vehicle and was later taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office where an autopsy will be performed.
