It’s remarkable that Germany, a highly industrialized country, has closed down several of its nuclear power plants. Pressed by the Social Democrat/Green coalition, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government is taking a serious economic risk for a clean energy future.
Last year Germany’s solar energy output rose by an impressive 60 percent. Also, “gigantic” wind farms are envisioned off Germany’s coasts.
“The possibilities for tomorrow are usually beyond expectations.” What is taking place in the European heartland merits thoughtful commentary.
