VERSAILLES — The Versailles boys basketball team has a lot of talent to replace from last year’s regional qualifying squad but some very good players returning as well.
As a result of graduation, Versailles lost seven players from last year’s team, which advanced to the regional semifinals of the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament before losing to eventual state runner up Cincinnati Summit Country Day. Among the departed players are starters Ethan Bruns, Mitchell Campbell and Zach Niekamp, the latter two being four-year varsity players for coach Scott McEldowney.
“That’s a lot of experience on the floor that’s tough to replace,” McEldowney said.
But returning for the Tigers are players including Kyle Ahrens and Chad Winner, who were the team’s second and third leading scorers and rebounders last season.
