The Ansonia boys basketball team has six seniors on its roster this season, and coach Darrick Barga is hopeful that this is the year that the Tigers become a contender in the Cross County Conference.
ANSONIA – Going into the season, Ansonia boys basketball coach Darrick Barga thinks this year’s team has the right attitude that could lead the Tigers to a winning season.
Entering his third season as the Tigers’ coach, Barga hopes Ansonia can finish in the top half of the Cross County Conference, something the Tigers didn’t do either of the past two seasons. This year’s team, which is led by six seniors, seems to have the right mentality to help get Ansonia to the top tier of the league, Barga said
“Been real happy with the way we’ve been practicing,” he said. “We have a good, solid group of seniors leading the way, leading by example. There was a lot of kids working hard in the offseason in the weight room, getting enough shots, playing in a fall league, doing the extra stuff that need to be done.”
