GREENVILLE - It may have been her husband’s idea to purchase a skating rink in Greenville nearly 45 years ago, but Hazel Mercer was reluctant, yet is the one who supported him in more ways than one.
She spent even more time there after Harold was called back to work for All-State Insurance.
“We bought the Greenville Roller Rink on June 19, 1969,” said Mercer, who was widowed 16 years ago. “It was Harold’s dream. He always wanted a skating rink.”
In fact, the couple met at a skating rink in Norwood, Ohio, where Harold lived.
