PITSBURG – When Craig Stammen was in second grade, one of his assignments was to draw a picture and write a sentence about what he wanted to be when he grew up.
Stammen drew of a picture of himself playing for the Cincinnati Reds and wrote that he wanted to play professional baseball. Even though he was told throughout his childhood that he wouldn’t make it, he never gave up on his dream.
Stammen, now a pitcher for the Washington Nationals, told that story to a group of students in the second through sixth grades at Franklin Monroe Elementary Wednesday afternoon, telling them not to give up on their dreams.
