The Daily Advocate has reached another milestone online. Recently our popular Facebook page just hit 4,000 ‘Likes.’ Though we have more of a social network presence than just Facebook, it is by far the most utilized by the community.
Eventually all news hits our award-winning website, but using our Facebook page is a vital way to get breaking news out to Darke County and beyond. I take pride in being the source our fans can rely on to break the news from the scene and update the story in a timely manner. For a small town newspaper, we do some big things and are not afraid to go outside the “comfort zone.” I am excited to see where we are a year from now!
Besides all the great news and photos, our page also hosts free online contests, local obituaries and a directory that is home to links for many of other Darke County pages. It is also a great way to promote events and share links to articles and videos written and edited by our talented team here at the Advocate.
I must say, Facebook has been a useful tool to so many businesses across the nation. Most commercials have implemented a Facebook promotion to better promote and socially engage other users.
Like I said in a previous Tech Talk column, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ all have some great features and options, but Facebook is where every business should be if they are not already there!
Thanks to all the 4000 fans and counting and if you haven’t already, “Like” us on Facebook at advocate360.org/facebook.
