DARKE COUNTY – A crash occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Hollansburg-Arcanum and U.S. 127 when a car spun into a nearby yard after hitting a semi-trailer.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a female driver heading westbound on Hollansburg-Arcanum Road failed to stop at a marked stop sign and ran into the semi-tractor trailer heading southbound at the intersection near Petey’s Pizza.

The woman’s Pontiac Bonneville sustained heavy damage on its front and right side, and the woman was treated for minor injuries. The Moeller Trucking, Inc semi-trailer and its driver were unharmed.

The female driver’s initial statement disclosed that she was on the phone while driving and that inattention may have been a factor in the crash. Exhaustion may also have contributed to the accident.

The accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
