How Affordable Care will affect Medicare


GREENVILLE – A big part of the Affordable Care Act aims to reduce fraud and waste, which is supposed to extend the life of Medicare funds, according to healthcare.gov.

Some of these measures include closing the “donut hole” for Medicare Part D recipients, raising taxes for those with higher income, and adding accountable care organizations (ACO).

Part of the Affordable Care Act was trying to close the gap that some call the “donut hole” for Medicare Part D recipients’ drug costs, said Dennis Lockard, chief financial officer for Wayne HealthCare.
