TROY – Greenville placed 13th with 110.5 points and Arcanum placed 18th with 36 points at the 2013 Troy Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday. St. Xavier won the 19-team invitational with 276 points.
Nick Woodruff of Greenville placed second in the 220-pound division. He pinned South Adams’ Nathan Wynn in 1:22, beat Urbana’s Keith Gale by default, pinned Covington’s Justin Daniel in 1:37, beat Coldwater’s Justin Post 8-4 and lost to St. Xavier’s Matt Kuhllman 3-1 in overtime.
Nelson Roberts from Greenville placed third in the 138-pound division. He beat Thurgood Marshall’s Aleem Shakir 16-1, beat Coldwater’s Landon Schlater 17-1, beat Mount Vernon’s Lane Hinkle 6-3, lost to St. Xavier’s Dakota Stephens 4-3 and beat Covington’s Brock Smith 7-6.
Kyle Carlisle of Greenville placed fifth in the 113-pound division. He advanced through the first round with a bye, pinned Bellefontaine’s Bryan Ward in 0:34, lost 9-1 to Coldwater’s Spencer Seibert, beat Tippecanoe’s Eric Seeman 21-4 and beat Wayne’s Duncan McLoud 10-2.
Keegan Artz of Arcanum placed eighth in the 138-pound division. He pinned Miami East’s Adam Bick in 0:57, pinned Bellefontaine’s Adrian Brunke in 1:08, lost to St. Xavier’s Dakota Stephens 18-3, was pinned by Mount Vernon’s Lane Hinkle in 2:17 and forfeited to West Liberty-Salem’s Josh Cordell.
William Nibert of Greenville placed eighth in the 152-pound division. He was pinned by St. Xavier’s Joe Heyob in 3:07, pinned Thurgood Marshall’s Lashon Howard in 1:16, beat Urbana’s Jacob Angles 7-0, lost to South Adams’ Shea Pyle 12-1 and lost to Coldwater’s Brent Collett 14-6.
Kory Bannon of Greenville placed eighth in the 195-pound division. He was pinned by Mount Vernon’s Matthew Lybarger in 4:47, pinned Bellefontaine’s Andrew Skidmore in 2:28, advanced in the third round with a bye, lost to Covington’s Brian Olson 10-1 and was pinned by Thurgood Marshall’s Brandon Flucas in 2:42.
