Greenville senior Nelson Roberts gets 100th career varsity win on senior night against Sidney’s Jeremiah Slagle.

GREENVILLE – The Sidney Yellow Jackets and the Trotwood Rams traveled to Greenville for a four-way junior varsity and varsity wrestling meet.

Northridge had transportation problems on the way to the meet and had to cancel its appearance.

The Green Wave were 1-1 on the evening, losing to Sidney in Greenville’s first match-up of the night and winning the final contest with Trotwood.

Greenville recognized three Wave seniors on Senior Night: Nick Woodruff, Nelson Roberts and Troy Vore.

The first match for the Wave pitted Greenville’s 220-pound division senior Nick Woodruff against Noah Straman of the Yellow Jackets. A pin by Woodruff gave Greenville a 6-0 lead.

“Nick Woodruff got a pin, looked good as he always does, making things exciting getting people hammered to the mat,” Greenville varsity wrestling coach John Shutts said.

Greenville’s 138-pound division senior, Nelson Roberts, reach a milestone, winning his 100th career varsity match for the Wave. Roberts defeated Sidney’s Jeremiah Slagle.

“Proud of him on that (Nelson Roberts’ 100th win),” Shutts said. “He got two tech falls on senior night, so that’s good.”

Sidney took a 57-11 win over Greenville as well as 59-6 win over the Rams in the first match of the evening.

Greenville defeated Trotwood 41-26 with wins from 113-pound division Kyle Carlisle and 138-pound Nelson Roberts. The Rams gave up five forfeits to the Wave, unable to fill the weight divisions.

“All in all a good way to end the night for them (seniors). They all got wins,” Shutts said. “They (seniors) get to go home tonight with a team win against Trotwood.”
