Eaton man faces numerous charges, including rape

- Deputies apprehended Willie Asher, 39, of Eaton on Sunday at approximately 12 p.m. after a short vehicle pursuit.
Deputies were acting on information that they had received and were checking the 7400 block of Eaton Oxford Road for a vehicle that Asher was reported to be driving.
Deputies attempted to stop a black Ford pick-up truck that was occupied by a male subject, believed to be the suspect.
Asher fled from the deputies southbound on Isreal Somers Road, crossing State Route 725 and continued south on Reeves Road. Asher drove the vehicle in to a field at Reeves Road and Camden College Corner Road in an attempt to get away. His vehicle became disabled and deputies apprehended Asher who was now on foot fleeing.
Asher was wanted on two outstanding warrants on indictment issued by the Preble County Grand Jury, charging Asher with menacing by stalking and violating a protection order, kidnapping, abduction, aggravated menacing, rape and domestic violence.
These charges stem from an Eaton Police investigation.
Asher was found to be in possession of several prescription pills, believed to be Hydrocodone. Those pills will be sent to the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab in Dayton for analysis.
In addition to the warrants, Asher was also charged wih driving under OVI suspension, drug possession, fleeing and eluding and failure to obey a traffic control device.
Filing of formal charges are expected this week after prosecutors review the report. Asher remains in the Preble County Jail.
