DARKE COUNTY - The national healthcare community is facing a critical shortage of health care workers in the next 10 years.

Now local health care centers are adjusting their strategic plans to accommodate for a rising demand of workers coupled with a gradual workforce decline.

Between the 1940’s and 1960’s, the baby boom created a larger-than-average group of workers who are now approaching traditional retirement age. Now as the population slows to reflect declining reproduction rates, there are fewer workers to replace the baby boomers as they retire.
