It’s a BOY! Congratulations to Jon and Laci Sando on the birth of their third child, Archer Ray Sando born January 18, 2013 weighing in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces at 4:24 a.m. Big sisters are Lola and Elouise. Proud grandparents are Herbert Hiatt, Jill Bierly, and Sandy Sando. Great-grandparents are Helen Harper and Helen Sando.
Happy 90th birthday to former resident Dale Sease! Dale and his wife, Betty are now residents at the Brethren Retirement Center cottages, but for many years lived in the Arcanum area. Dale is the son of the late Walter and Albertha Sease, graduated from Monroe High School, worked at Hobart’s in Troy, and was a farmer. Dale and Betty are the proud parents of daughters Shanda (Bill) Gunter, Annette (Rex) Stewart, and daughter-in-law Linda (Fred-deceased) Sease, seven grandchildren, 12 great- grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. The family showered Dale with a wonderful party with family and friends at the BRC Center on January 20th.
It’s time for Arcanum Junior Baseball/Softball sign-ups! Sign-up sessions will be held at the school on February 2nd and 9th from 9 a.m. to Noon, and February 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. Registration will be in the Middle School ELA 1st Floor (Extended Learning Area/same as last year). Cost this year is $50.00 per child (cost includes team shirt and hat only) with a family maximum of $90.00 (note: family max is applied to siblings living under same roof). Late registrations will be accepted until Friday, February 15th with an additional late fee of $20.00 for each late registration. No one will be permitted to sign up after February 15th unless they are moving in new to the area and these registrations will be accepted until March 1st. The minimum age for participating in league is 5 years old by June 1, 2013. All leagues will be represented at signups for questions. Sue Pitzer will be retiring and closing “The Daisy Beauty Shop” on January 31st after 50 years in the cosmetology business. Congratulations, Sue – may you and Dean enjoy many years of retirement!
The Ohio School Boards Association is celebrating School Board Recognition Month this month to build awareness and understanding of the vital function. Arcanum-Butler Local School District is joining with other districts to recognize the important contributions school board members make to their communities. Arcanum-Butler Board Members are Tracy Fout, Lonnie Norris, Bev Delk, Ed Everman, and Mark Trask. Give each one of these individuals a huge Thank You when you see them for all their hard work in making our school strong and a vital part of our community.
