Eaton man charged with child pornography

PREBLE COUNTY - Martin R. Burnett, 52, of Eaton was arrested Monday and charged with 36 counts involving child pornography.

The Preble County Sheriff’s Office has opened a criminal investigation after being notified by a computer repair business that images of children depicted in sexually oriented photographs had been located on a computer brought in for repair.

The investigation began on Jan. 23 when deputies obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence of the suspect in this case, based on the above information.

Deputies seized the Burnett's computer, as well as, additional storage media. The computer has been submitted to the Miami Valley Regional Crime Lab in Dayton for a forensic computer analysis. Evidence observed by deputies at this point, is believed to have been downloaded from the internet.

Burnett has been charged with 14 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, 10 felonies of second degree and four of the fourth degree. He has also been charged with 13 counts of pandering sexual oriented matter involving a minor, 10 felonies of second degree and three of the fourth degree. He also faces nine counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance, felonies of the fifth degree.

Burnett is currently free on bond. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
