GREENVILLE - Memorial Hall has been closed since early January, and is expected to remain closed until at least March, said Doug Fries, superintendent of the Greenville City School District.

The district held a special meeting last Thursday to discuss Mote and Associates’ preliminary findings, and have extended their contract for Mote and Associates to do engineering work to determine what work will need to be contracted to fix the problem, Fries said.

“We anticipate getting results back from that engineering within a couple of weeks, and intend to pursue getting the repair work in place to correct it,” stated Fries. “The auditorium will probably be closed through March, but we’re trying to get it engineered so we know what to do and get things in place as quickly as we can.”

The district is set to meet with Mote and Associates again in approximately two weeks, Fries said, and more information will be available at that time.
