Versailles girls win sectional


HUBER HEIGHTS — The Versailles girls bowling team won its sectional at Marian Lanes with a team score of 3,896.

By winning the sectional, Versailles advances to the district meet to be held Feb. 22 at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek along with Sidney, Urbana, Graham, Northwestern and Greenon.

Ansonia senior Whitney Yeagle also qualified for the district meet individually by rolling a three-game series of 499, which was 22nd best overall and fifth best among non-district qualifying teams. She had games of 160, 157 and 182.

Versailles was led by junior Kelsy Berning, who rolled a three-game series of 605. Also for the Lady Tigers, junior Brooke Wehrkamp rolled a 578 three-game series, and junior Megan Monnin rolled a 551 three-game series. Junior Tori Minnich had games of 156 and 168 while freshman Hannah Niekamp had a game of 231.

Mississinawa Valley finished 14th out of 23 teams by rolling a 2,992. Sophomore Quincy Warren led Mississinawa Valley with a 495 three-game series, which was just two pins off the district-qualifying mark. Also for the Lady Hawks, sophomore Maegan O’Connor rolled a 461 three-game series, junior Allison James rolled a 438 three-game series, and senior Jalisa Scott rolled a 425 three-game series. Freshman Meghan Wilson had a 117 game, freshman Kasey Hummel had a 109 game, and freshman Libby Jenkinson had a 96 game.

Ansonia placed 18th by rolling a 2,759. After Whitney Yeagle’s 499 series, Ansonia’s best score came from senior Sabrina Hull with a 451 three-game series. Also for the Lady Tigers, senior Kayla Grazioso rolled a 350 three-game series, and sophomore Chealsy Yeagle rolled a 366 three-game series. Senior Corine Cruz had games of 86 and 107 while junior Maricruz Mata had a 118 game.

Tri-Village finished 20th as it rolled a 2,525. Sophomore Emily Hunt led Tri-Village with a 410 three-game series. Also for the Lady Patriots, Kaitlin Fourman had a 405 three-game series, Michaela Marburger had a 331 three-game series, senior Colleen Brown rolled games of 98 and 127, senior Sarah Wheeler rolled games of 115 and 109, freshman Kaitie Gilpin had a 94 game, and freshman Bronwyn Hoblit had an 89 game.
