The group, called SOUL (Survivors of Unspeakable Loss) was created for suicide survivors after the Out of the Darkness Walk in September last year. The group meets once a month in Union City, Ind. The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Hoosier Place Community Room (old Westside School).Darla Bowman, one of the organizers, said she has made this a public forum, “because I see a need for support in our community for those other than those lost to suicide. We are a small community with not a lot of support/outreach programs, so we are changing that. This used to be the group for suicide survivors, but we have decided that you, our community, need us too. So we have opened this up to ANYONE who has suffered a traumatic loss, and just needs a place to go to ‘fit in.’ We are just a group of normal people, who miss those we love every moment of everyday. Come out and let us support you in your journey of grief…everyone has lost someone…we need to support each other!”
