Land transfer proposed to city council

GREENVILLE — The Greenville City Council heard from Greenville City School District representatives at its Tuesday meeting and discussed a possible land transfer of Marling Field and Harmon Field.

Superintendent Doug Fries, Treasurer Carla Surber and Director of Administrative Services Jon McGreevey were in attendance to present the school district’s first proposal of the land transfer.

As stated in the proposal, it is the goal of Greenville City Schools to be the recipient of Marling Field, Harmon Field and the land north of Harmon Field that runs along Kelsey Street, should the City of Greenville find it to be in everyone’s interest.

Greenville City Schools wishes to officially own the property, as it has helped maintain the property at its own cost over the past several years, and ownership will enable the schools to enter into conversations for with other private entities for further solicitations.
