DARKE COUNTY - Community Unity has been around more than 20 years serving the needy of Darke County and, in February, began a “Have a Heart…Do Your Part” campaign to seek new financial supporters for its work.

“We are involved in helping those in our community needing financial assistance with utilities, rent, medical needs and emergency transportation,” said Community Unity Board President Jim Morehouse. “Because needs in our area are great and our only support comes through local grants and donations from churches, organizations and individuals, we truly depend on the generous assistance of our supporters.”

Community Unity, a non-profit organization, provides volunteers to meet with those clients who are eligible for help and then provide up to $75, which can be requested every six months.

They typically meet with 10 clients every week.
