GETTYSBURG — The annual Gettysburg Homecoming Festival is set for all day Saturday, with a 5K Walk/Run slated to get underway at 9 a.m.
Beginning and ending at the Gettysburg Cardinal Center (formerly Gettysburg Elementary School) at 260 E. Main St., the 5K course features a mix of town and country with terrain suitable for beginners and experienced runners.
Registration on the day of the race is from 8 to 8:45 a.m. The parade begins at Norcold, with Esther (Petersime) Clark serving as grand marshal.
Race divisions are for ages 20 and under; 21-30; 31-40; and 41 and older. Male and female first-place finishers in each age division will receive an award.
Online registration ends Wednesday and paper registrations will be accepted until the day of the race. Entry forms are also available at Gettysburg branch of Greenville National Bank and Lavy’s Corner Mart.
A community-wide garage sale is scheduled to be held at the school.
Also featured will be a flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; historic display of Petersime Incubator Co. memorabilia, featuring a classic incubator; class photos of Gettysburg graduates; food concessions; a bounce house; and other activities for children. A pickup game — softball or volleyball — also is planned at 1 p.m.
Proceeds will benefit Friends of the Cardinal Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, for continued Cardinal Center renovation, operation and funding of community programs.
