GREENVILLE — Two young people were airlifted from the scene of a serious accident Saturday afternoon. Both were ejected from the vehicle.

On August 20, at approximately 1:24 p.m, Darke County Deputies along with New Madison Fire, Tri-Village Rescue, New Paris Rescue and CareFlight were dispatched to the 200 Block of State Route 121 in reference to a rollover accident.

The preliminary investigation revealed a blue 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Avery R. Spencer, 20, of Greenville, was traveling southbound on State Route 121 when a dog ran into Spencer’s lane of travel. Spencer made an attempt to avoid striking the dog and lost control of his vehicle causing him to travel off the right side of the roadway. Spencer’s vehicle struck the ditch and rolled multiple times. Spencer and his passenger, Nycole A. Burk, 18, of Greenville, were both ejected from the vehicle.

Spencer and Burk were both airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Spencer is listed in fair condition and Burk is listed in serious condition.
