GREENVILLE — Judge Jonathan P. Hein heard two plea changes in Darke County Common Pleas Court Tuesday morning.

Damon Dickey, 19, of Ansonia, entered a guilty plea to one count of forgery for trying to cash a stolen company check at Eikenberry’s in September.

Multiple checks reportedly were stolen from Manufacturing Systems and Services Group Inc. in Ansonia, and suspects associated with the burglary made multiple attempts at cashing the forged checks at local businesses. The account, based at Bank One, was quickly closed following the burglary.

Dickey was charged only with two counts of forgery, both fifth-degree felonies, for his Sept. 12 attempt to cash checks. Dickey entered a guilty plea on one count while the second count was dismissed.

Assistant County Prosecutor Deborah Quigley did inform Dickey’s attorney, Randall Breaden, prior to the hearing that DNA evidence from the burglary scene had been sent for laboratory analysis, and that Dickey is considered a person of interest in the burglary.

On the forgery case, Dickey faces a maximum of 12 months in prison and $2,500 in fines. The state and defense jointly recommended community control sanctions, restitution and community service in lieu of jail time.

Sentencing was set for Jan 25 at 9:15 a.m., and bond was continued.

Marcy M. Jett, of Greenville, entered a guilty plea to one count of receiving stolen property when the property is a dangerous drug, a fourth-degree felony. A second count of receiving stolen property valued at more than $1,000, a fifth-degree felony, was dismissed as part of the plea agreement. The plea agreement also included restitution of $850 to be paid with Kyle Reigelsperger in exchange for not bringing charges on a related burglary.

The maximum penalty for Jett’s charge is 18 months incarceration and a $5,000 fine.

Sentencing was set for Jan. 25 at 9:30 a.m.
