DARKE COUNTY – Darke County Parks would like to extend an invitation to teachers for the 2015-2016 school year to get students outside!

“When it comes to providing quality curriculum based supplemental programming, Darke County Parks’ nature programs are the best resource,” said park officials.

Teachers are encouraged to take advantage of what Darke County Parks can offer. Whether it’s geology with an emphasis on the rock cycle or stream studies with an emphasis on the water cycle, our park naturalists can meet your needs.

Additionally, all field trips are now provided at no cost for all Darke County Schools. If squeezing in a field trip is not an easy option, naturalists can bring a program into the classroom.

“All of the programming meets the newly revised state science standards and can be an excellent complement to classroom studies,” park officials.

Some of the topics offered are life cycles, plants, habitats, geology, natural resources, and more! Students do not just come to learn about natural history. Several schools and grades travel to explore Darke County’s rich cultural history through tours and demonstrations in the Anthony Wayne Peace Council House and the Log House at Shawnee Prairie Preserve.

These are only a fraction of the programs the Darke County Parks staff has to offer. Program can be tailored to students’ specific needs.

Call the Nature Center at 937-548-0165 or visit the website at www.darkecountyparks.org for a full list of upcoming events for autumn and more information on all of the programs Darke County Parks provides!
