GREENVILLE - Friday’s cow barns fire at the Darke County Fairgrounds has the community wondering just what got the fire started.
“We have been working daily with the State Fire Marshal’s Office since the incident,” stated Chief Mark Wolf of the Greenville Fire Department.
Chief Wolf told The Daily Advocate that the fire remains under investigation and there is no time line of when a cause will be announced publicly. He also stated that the recent and any future snowfall will not hinder their investigation in any way.
On Saturday investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office arrived at the scene to do a full walk-through with the Greenville Fire and Police Departments. Seven different insurance agencies are also involved with the investigation due to the privately owned items that were being stored in the damaged buildings.
“As of now the investigations shows no evidence of a crime, but that can not be ruled out,” stated Michael Duchesne the Public Information Officer with the State Fire Marshal’s Office. “These types of fires can take weeks to resolve. We are not going to leave any stone unturned, we want to get it right.”
