GREENVILLE - Larry Green of Darke County received a Lifetime Achievement Award and a resolution from the Ohio State House of Representatives, drafted by Rep. Richard Adams (R-Troy) and Rep. Jim Buchy (R-Greenville), honoring him for that achievement.
Adams was at the Great Darke County Fair this past Wednesday to present the award to Green, stating, “Representative Buchy speaks very highly of you; you’re the right kind of guy to be recognized for this award. Agriculture is the backbone of our country, It’s encouraging to see this kind of commitment to excellence.”
Green, Adams said, had received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the shearers association. The resolution Green was presented was approved by the Ohio House of Representatives and signed by Adams, Buchy and Speaker of the House William Batchelder.
“He [Green] is a renown shearer,” Adams said. “He can shear sheep quickly and with a great deal of skill.”
He went on, “Rep. Buchy and myself, representatives of Darke County, prepared the resolution of commendation, noting his [Green’s] activities and expressing congratulations to him.”
Green, according to Bob Peters of Dawn north of Greenville, is known for his sheep shearing competitions at the state fair and noted that Green also does numerous demonstrations on shearing.
