GREENVILLE — This year’s Annie Oakley Tournament was the largest in event history with 65 youth baseball teams from Ohio and Indiana playing Thursday through Sunday in Greenville.

The tournament, which is a fund raiser for Greenville’s youth baseball league, included teams in eight divisions ranging from 8 and younger to 15 and younger.

“This was the largest Annie Oakley Tournament that we have ever held,” Tournament Director Jim Hackney said. “We had 65 teams, and we had eight different divisions.”

In the 8U division, the Centerville All-Stars were the tournament champions while the Indiana Bandits were the runners up.

Miami Valley Heat won the 9U division with Troy Junior Trojans finishing as the runners up.

The Indiana Diamond Jaxx won the 10U championship while the Darke County Fielders were the runners up.

Players Warehouse won the 11U title with Southern Ohio Sting finishing as the runner up.

The Dayton Thunderbirds claimed the 12U championship, and the Stateline Sluggers were the tournament runners up.

The Miami Valley Reds won the 13U championship while the Ohio Hawks finished as the runners up.

Miami Valley Heat took home first place in the 14U division with the Union City Indians finishing second.

The Dayton Dodgers won the title in the 15U division, and the Cincinnati Lancers were the runners up.

With this year’s tournament being the largest in event history, it took a lot of help throughout the event. Hackney gave thanks to Greenville City Schools, Greenville Girls Softball Association and Versailles High School for their support and use of facilities not only for weekend but in previous events and to DeColores Montessori School of Greenville for working the concession stands.

“The entire event is a fund-raiser for the youth league here in Greenville, and the concessions sold is a huge part in that,” Hackney said. “The individuals from their organization that put in all those hours working the concession stands are top notch.”

Hackney also said he appreciated outgoing Greenville Citizens Baseball League Commissioner Ryan Delk and incoming Commissioner Mark Eldridge and all their board members this year and next year.

“So many dedicated individuals put in countless hours over the last four days to make this possible,” Hackney said. “I want to thank everyone for all their support, especially all the officers and trustees of Greenville Citizens Baseball League and most importantly my family, who I couldn’t do any of this without.

“The community is a big supporter of our tournament, and we couldn’t do something this size without community support.”
