VERSAILLES — Arcanum won the Cross County Conference boys golf preview meet on Friday at Stillwater Valley Golf Club, beating second-place Miami East by seven strokes.
The CCC meet had 11 schools participate in the preview meet including Ansonia, Arcanum, Bradford, Franklin Monroe and Tri-Village. The meet’s format included pairs of golfers competing together in alternating shot, best ball and best score formats in the 18-hole round.
Arcanum won the meet with a team score of 245 as scores were used for all the players on each team. Miami East finished second with a 252, Covington finished third with a 253, Franklin Monroe finished fourth with a 261, Bethel finished fifth with a 263, Tri-Village placed sixth with a 277, Tri-County North placed seventh with a 286, Newton finished eighth with a 287, and National Trail finished ninth with a 302. Bradford and Ansonia, which had just four players each, finished 10th and 11th, respectively, with scores of 199 and 214.
The best pair of the day was Arcanum’s Conner Pohl and Justin Hoke who shot a one-over-par 73. Also for Arcanum, Steven Vanatta and Sam Artz shot an 85 while Trent Jones and Nathan Kubik shot an 87.
Franklin Monroe’s pairs of Bradey Hesler and Derek Lusher plus Hunter Rich and Noah Koffer both shot an 80. The Jets’ Austin Tucker and Hudson Rich shot a 101.
For Tri-Village the duos of Jonny Wilson and Knox Morris plus Brandon Peters and Luke Wheeler both shot a 91. Brett Boyter and Tyler VanWinkle shot a 95.
Bradford’s team of Kyler Locker and Alex Swabb shot a 93. The Railroaders’ Patrick Wolf and Kevin Fout shot a 106.
For Ansonia John Fisher and Trent Rader shot a 101. The Tiger duo of Lane Clark and Logan Miller shot a 113.
