There’s no place like home

Home from vacation and glad to be in corn and wheat after enjoying a visit to grape country at the lake in New York. It is nice to experience a change of scene and meet new people but there really is no place like home!

Action Refraction is the program scheduled July 9 at the New Madison Public Library. The Armstrong Air and Space Museum will present the program at 2 p.m. and guide youngsters into learning and testing the effects of refraction with lasers, prisms and water.

The programs have been well attended and the Armstrong Air and Space Museum gets high marks for presentation and involvement.

Check out Family Craft Nights on first and third Mondays. Let the creative side flow from 6 to 7 p.m. on the 15th. And Littles at the Library continues during these hot days when good times are shared by the youngest patrons every Thursday at 10 a.m.

It is back to Camp Growth this week at the United Methodist Church.

The summer program for community children resumes after a week off for the Fourth of July celebration.

Even if you missed out the first two weeks of the program, you can join now by signing in at 11 a.m. The lunch is free and fellowship is great for a summer day with pick up at 3 p.m.

The children enjoy refreshing lessons on math, science and problem solving. Time is spent with the library’s specially chosen books as well as music, Bible study and crafts. It is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It runs through next week.

The new fire house is taking shape. Thanks to the department for another safe and beautiful colorful display of fireworks last week.
