GREENVILLE - Two pedestrians were struck in the crosswalk at the intersection of South Broadway and Fourth Street on Saturday around 11:47 a.m. according to reports from Greenville Police Department.

A red 2001 Mitsubishi Turbo driven by Seth Miakisz, 20 of Pitsburg, headed westbound on E. Fourth Street, made a left turn onto South Broadway, failing to yield to the two pedestrians walking eastbound in the crosswalk.

Jennifer Clark, 59, of Arcanum, was transported with serious head trauma to Miami Valley Hospital. The second pedestrian, Kathryn Gabbard, 34, of Eaton, sustained minor injuries. The woman were coming from the Farmer’s Market downtown.

“I was driving on Fourth and I then turned left, and when I turned left, I didn’t see the people walking and I accidentally hit them,” Miakisz’s statement reads. “I then put the car in park and ran to them.”

One witness reported that the red Turbo made a left turn on to Broadway, hitting a woman in the crosswalk, at which time two passengers left the scene.

Miakisz was cited for failure to yield to the right of way of a pedestrian.
