DARKE COUNTY - For their fifth year, Bunco 4 Boobies, a group of friends out of Arcanum who rallied around several of their own who were diagnosed with breast cancer, wanted to do something really special, and they accomplished that by raising more than $22,000.
Bunco 4 Boobies donated $22,000 to the Darke County Cancer Association; they also donated an indisclosed amount to a lady currently going through breast cancer. Jessica Artz, president of Bunco 4 Boobies, said that everyone involved is extremely proud of the efforts they’ve made, and their ability to grow the event every year for the last five years.
“Now we’re just looking for a donated space that can accomodate more than 300 Bunco players,” Artz commented of the growing fundraising effort that started out as a way to support friends and has grown to an effort to support all of Darke County’s cancer patients.
The Bunco 4 Boobies Roll for a Cure event was held at the Moose Lodge in March with more than 300 in attendance and thousands of dollars in donated prizes from local businesses and individuals, Artz explained.
Christine Lynn, executive director of the Cancer Association of Darke County, stated that it’s donations like these that enable the Cancer Association to continue to serve Darke County’s cancer patients.
