BRADFORD - On Sunday, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Darke County Sheriff’s deputies, with Bradford Fire and Rescue, Gettysburg Rescue, and Care Flight, responded to the 9600 block of Grise Road outside of Bradford on a report of a bicycle struck by a pickup truck.

Preliminary investigation revealed the 2000 Chevy 1500 pickup truck was driven by a 17-year-old male. The tandem bicycle was occupied by a 13-year-old female and a 5-year-old female. Both were traveling eastbound on Grise Road when the accident occurred. Investigation shows the Chevy 1500 pickup truck attempted to pass the slow moving bicycle, resulting in a collision.

The 5-year-old female was transported by Care Flight to Dayton Children’s Hospital. The 13-year-old female was transported by Bradford Rescue to Upper Valley Medical Center and later transferred to Dayton Children’s Hospital. Both are listed in fair condition. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

At this time the accident is still under investigation.
