This weekend is Father’s Day. This is the first Father’s Day that I will celebrate without my Dad as he just passed away on March 1, 2014. So, as I celebrate Father’s Day with my children and grandchildren … I certainly cherish the memories, advice and wisdom I received and have from my Dad.
In fact, when I was a teenager back in the early 1970’s I can vividly recall my Dad saying to me as I would leave the house to go out with my friends, “Dennis, remember who you are.”
Well, today … may I remind you of who YOU are. In fact, let me boldly & confidently proclaim who you are.
You are …
> an heir of God and a co-heir with Christ (Romans 8:17)
> given a crown that will last forever (1 Corinthians 9:25)
> eternal, like an angel (Luke 20:36)
> a holy priest (1 Peter 2:5)
> a treasured possession (Exodus 19:5)
But, more than any of the above, more significant than any title or position, is this simple fact - - YOU ARE GOD’S CHILD!!
YOU are really HIS child!! God is your heavenly Father!
As a result … if something is important to you, it’s important to your heavenly Father.
“See how very much our heavenly Father loves us - for He allows us to be called His children, and we really are!” - 1 John 3:1 (NLT)
As you go about your activities today … remember who you are!
